1QR’s journey began in 2013 when its founders acquired the 1QR.com domain after years of conversations about the potential of QR code technology to transform marketing and professional networking. Having worked in marketing and digital engagement since 2009, the co-founders recognized early that QR codes could bridge the gap between physical and digital experiences. At the time, however, the technology was still emerging. Adoption was limited, smartphone scanning was not yet seamless, and the tools available to businesses lacked the flexibility needed for real-world marketing.

For several years, the idea behind 1QR continued to develop as the technology ecosystem matured. The global Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 became a turning point for QR code adoption, as businesses and consumers rapidly embraced contactless interactions for menus, payments, information access, and more. This shift revealed both the growing demand for QR-driven engagement and the need for a more powerful, adaptable platform that could support dynamic experiences, not just static links.

In response to this opportunity, strategic planning for the 1QR platform began in 2020 with the goal of building a unified ecosystem across Android, iOS, and web applications. The vision extended beyond simple QR code generation. The platform was designed to provide dynamic control, powerful analytics, and tools that help businesses understand and improve engagement at every point where people interact with their brand.

By early 2023, development efforts were fully underway, and in December 2023 the first public version, 1QR 1.0, was released. The launch introduced a user-friendly platform that made it easy to create and manage dynamic QR codes while providing actionable insights into how people interact with them. This marked the beginning of a rapidly evolving product built around flexibility, accessibility, and measurable engagement.

Since our initial launch, 1QR has continued to expand with dozens of new features, enhancements, and the introduction of 1QR 2.0, which significantly broadened the platform’s capabilities.
